Lost!

My mom went away from me under suspicious circumstances. At least for me she did. She was in a nursing home here in Montrose,Colorado. She was going bat shit crazy being in there. Climbing up the walls because you do not want to be some place or around someone is just the worst kind of feeling that you can ever have. It is torture in the worst of ways. My mom when i was growing up had worked in these nursing homes. She not only heard all of the horror stories that went on in them she had also seen the times where the residents living in those nursing homes were badly mistreated by the staff. I can can remember a time when my mother had brought one individual who was named charlie back to our trailer to live. Now charlie was old with his hips out of place as well as being blind. Charlie had all sorts of health ailments from what i remember wrong with him. Charlie had been one of those you could call them lost souls out there. He was lonely just like any other old, decrepit soul that a family had stuck in a nursing home being that the family no longer could or wanted to take care of their aging family member and forgotten about. Stuck was what most of the residents were. They were abandoned there in those places to be left to the hands of people who were supposed to take good care of them. Instead though they were just left to rot away a lonely, unloved, uncaring exsistence that at times the individual who was left in these places would not even be aware that they had even been left in a place where they were at the mercy of others who did not care if they would end up mistreating the resident. Charlie was no different. My mom had a soft spot in her heart for charlie that only he could fill within a persons heart. He was a charmer with the ladies of the nursing home. He was a ladies man as well. He could sweet talk you laying upon you the sweetness of his ever loving heart. He would always go the way of my mother who had taken a liking to ole charlie. Charlie had one day from out of the blue even taken to my mother one day that he had bought this giant sized rock of a ring for my mother in an effort to win my mother over. He was just head over heels for me mom that he could not nor would not take to any of the other female nurses. Charlie was in love with my mother from that point on following her around in the nursing home from one room to another, one nurses station to the next where he could be close to his “life long love”. One day when my mother had gotten off work from her job at the nursing home she told me little brother and i that she was bringing home a nice old man from her job. Charlie had become while he lived with us in our trailer out in Texas a family member of sorts. Little did any of us know that old charlie was as senile and mean spirited as they came. While going going on work my mother would leave my little brother eric and myself home alone with charlie. Old charlie was at first a man that would sit out in the front living area of the trailer pretending to watch our t. v. While being able to hear a muffled sound coming from it. Charlie here would be able to hear some at least though it was like being on one end of a tunnel for him and you were on the other end trying to talk with him from that distance while having a cloth over your mouth to muffle out your words that you were saying to him on the other end. Charlie though became with every passing day an old fart who became increasingly with every passing day an old angry fart of a man. He started out yelling at us two kids taking items from the trailer to try to use to swat us two boys for what he thought was us two acting up. There was a time with old charlie where he would even eventually get up from his wheel chair that he was in out on the front porch taking with him. He cocked the gun and fired it off a couple of times into the air. That was the last time we ever saw old charlie again the three of us packed up a uhaul that my mom had gotten at night with my mom trying to call the nursing home to try to get them to take him back into their care. The nursing home would not take ole charlie back with us having to leave him at the trailer that the three of us were leaving to escape ole charlie and his senile ways.
